Week of 02/03/14: Street Photography
Although it is largely the physical landscape of
the city on which my lens concentrates, in my travels I often
see dramatic moments that are just too irresistible to not shoot. A fixed-focus film camera or a compact digital
on automatic that could be quickly deployed, if only as a test of the
photographer’s ability to think fast and demonstrate good timing, were how some of these were done. Others were more calculated. For instance the
photo of the two men in suits and the snowstorm outside American Apparel were
done by pre-setting the camera and simply patiently waiting.
